Gallery Susan Alexander
Gallery Susan Alexander was started in 2008 with a focus in contemporary San Francisco Bay Area art with a particular interest in figurative painting and
sculpture, ceramics, Art Singulier, Dada and Surrealism. Her choice of artists is idiosyncratic. Bosch, Archimboldo, Dubuffet, Ensor, Appel, Niki de Saint Phalle all had an
audacity and inventiveness beyond the familiar. They developed ways of expressing themselves outside of official rules. This is what Susan is seeking.
Susan founded Eclipse Gallery in 1979 in Sonoma specializing in contemporary Mexican and Northwest Coast art. Subsequently she co- founded Oberon Gallery in Napa with Patty Stewart in the early 80s.
They had rotating shows of contemporary California painters and sculptors.
Susan became an independent art consultant in 1984. She initiated and coordinated the introductory symposium on Outsider Art "Altered
States: Alternate Worlds" in conjunction with Creative Growth at the Oakland Museum in 1992. She has curated numerous group shows in the Bay Area including the shows "Horse of a Different Color"
(Santa Rosa, 1988), "Creative Environments" (Santa Rosa, 1990), and "Color Magicians" (College of Marin, 1989).
Gallery Susan Alexander is an online gallery and this is the first time they're joining forces with Pamela Skinner/Gwenna Howard Contemporary Art
