Rogelio Manzo

STATEMENT
My work is an exploration of the journey and metamorphosis of human existence, this exploration begins in the interior moving outwards through the body the energy and further out to the emotions and sensations. I search for the contradictions of the human form as it searches for its own modern identity in a physical life experience, so perhaps I can find answers to so many inevitable questions. With a brute introspective sense, I present my subjects the only way I have been capable of; my scalpel has been my brush and my dissecting table has been the portrait. I continually dissect and re-integrate their gestures to show the subjects emotions, fragility, displacement, and the disturbing nature of ego to return the subject to its true existential homeostasis.
