Lynn Scholl
I am driven to create art which is minimal and industrial. I have a fascination with
odd words and discarded toys. Finding myself drawn to elements with a long forgotten
history. Objects once coveted and then abandoned. Often a parallel of human experience.
These articles are transformed and resurrected to tell a story of their own.
The beauty of rust has no equal and metal is my material of choice. I fluctuate between
selecting natural elements and those which are man made. Collage allows a means to
develope and compose. But drilling holes and bolting things together is divine. It is in
these small and humble materials (washers, nails, thumbscrews) I find great delight.
My current work is an exploration of the individual. Our capacity for compassion and
destructive darkness, humor and hatred. Our reactions to the environment, cultural
Influence, age, work and play.
